Senegal
I recently travelled to Senegal to shoot a street photography project in the capital. it was different for me as I usually travel for specific projects on a given subject. This time I wanted to work very loose and try some street photography. I spent time in around the cities markets, sports venues and beaches, capturing how the cities locals spend their time.

Information
The Frontline 19 Campaign I shot for @aandeddb has won several pencils; including Black; at the @d_and_ad awards.
While some of us dare to imagine a world after Covid-19, three million NHS and frontline workers carry the effects of the pandemic with them every day. Two in five of them are suffering with PTSD, which is double the rate found in military veterans with recent combat experience. One crisis has caused another. As such, Hopeline19 launched on Emergency Services Day in September 2021. Hopeline19 is a free phone service for the nation to leave messages for frontline workers. Anyone who needs it can call the line 24/7 to hear a randomised series of messages of support from the British public.

Lockdown Natwest Ads

Lockdown Natwest Ads

Information
Well I have to say this has been one of the most unusual shoots I’ve ever done. Here we all are in lockdown and I get a call
asking about how we could do a photo shoot of NatWest employees, letting the public know that they were on hand to help out in
these strange times.
It’s a tricky one. How to do a shoot without actually being there? We also couldn't send anyone around to help set it up.
After some discussion it was decided to shoot these on the models own camera phones using family members or partners to act as the
photographer. Not an easy one for someone who has never photographed to a brief before.
So the team all logged onto Zoom and the shoot began.

Dhaka
The ship building yards of Dhaka are possible one of the most hazzardist workplaces I’ve very seen. People climb around skeletal ship frames in bear feet and no safety ropes. Arch wielding equipment is left lying around the place with bear wires gaffer tapper into homemade voltage converters. In the foundries people do everything by hand and walk around in bear feet with moult metal in pools on the ground.
But in the week I was there I saw and heard of no injuries which is amazing given the conditions.
Up stream in Chittagong big ship are broken up and many of the parts come to Dhaka to be reassembled for local passenger vessels. Somehow it all works in it’s own way.

Dhaka Portraits
Along with the images from the dockyard I shot these portraits in the foundry. It was one of the most dangerous work environments I've ever seen and everyone was working barefoot or in sandals. The workers said they found it easier to work
like that. What really struck me was the amount of young children working there. The heat, smoke and molten metal isn't the best place for youngster to be growing up in. They where working with other family members and had to in order to earn enough money for the families to support themselves. School was too expensive. Poverty is the root cause of the problem here.

Got a call from a great Art Director, nick Tidball. We’ve worked together on several Adidas projects including
one which won a Cannes Lion. Nick and his brother Steve have started a new company called Vollebak to
challenge the outdoor clothing industry. Their philosophy is to use cutting edge science to produce incredible clothes.
Nick asked me to jump on the next flight to Cyprus and meet up with this mad Russian. Vollebaks Graphine jacket had
saved his life when he got very lost breaking around the Himalayas. The sun was setting and he knew temperatures
would soon drop below freezing. He used the last of the sun to heat up his jacket and keep him warm.
My task was to find somewhere in Cyprus that looked like the top of a Himalayan mountain. No easy job
but great fun to try.
