Information
I travelled to New Belgrade in Serbia to document the famous brutalist estate that the Yugoslavs built outside Belgrade in the 1960's and 70’s.

As with all these types of social housing, they generally get a bad press, being tabled ugly and of poor quality. The images I’ve seen mainly paint a picture of a grey, oppressive environment. What struck me was the amount of open green space and mature trees surrounding these homes.

They are practically built in parkland and all the residents I met spoke of spacious flats and a solid community that many of the newly built flats sadly lacked.
What they needed was proper maintenance, not pulling down.
