Shelter Christmas campaign in The Mirror

 

On a shoot for Shelter today and I got a call from the Mirror. Shelter are there Christmas charity this year and they want to feature the family I'd photographed that day. Frances Cook is having to bring her daughter Cleo,11 and her new born Malachi, 4 months in a single room bedsit.

AOP Awards 2014

 

It was the AOP awards last night and my Kiev project and Adidas/Suarez shot were selected for the book.

Asics

 

Had one of those intense sports shoots today. Asics had access to the Springboks and the Wallabies today. As always with sports advertising we had Tv, stills, internet and PR to do in a limited time. I was working on the press and poster advertising and had about an hour over the day to get around six different set ups. Always a challenge but a enjoyable one.

Sky

 

Did a bit of a mix between advertising and editorial. We went over to Calais to shoot Ross Kemp making a documentary about the refugees trying to get across the channel to the UK. They had traveled thousands of miles to try and make a better life for themselves and their families and were now stuck in what has become a bottleneck in Calais.

This Girl Can for SportEngland

 

Shoot for the 'This Girl Can' campaign. It's going to be one of the biggest campaigns of 2015 and is one of those highly integrated one's that makes my head spin. We shot fifteen sports over a fortnight andwe shot around London, Liverpool and Manchester. Really exciting project to be involved in.

Selected for the AOP Awards 2014

 

Three pieces of work have been selected for the AOP Awards 2014. I've been selected in Advertising single for a commission for Adidas Unlock campaign earlier this year and two pieces of work from my project on the protests in the Ukraine.

Selected for Creative Review Photography Annual

 

I've been selected for this years Creative Review Photography Annual. It's for two personal projects from the uprising in the Ukraine covering the demonstrations and there aftermath.

Honduras for Sunday Telegraph

 

Just back from a short four day trip to Honduras for the Sunday Telegraph. It was for a story about the gangs of San Pedro, the city with the highest murder rate in the country with the highest murder rate in the world. We went out on a patrol with the army who now patrol the streets since the local police were unable to cope with the high level of violence. We also visited a coffee farm sponsored by Kenco that try to help kids from the barrio's find an alternative to a life in the gangs.

Childrens Society article in Creative Review.

 

The Childrens Society campaign I worked on over the summer has been featured on the Creative Review blog. I worked with creatives from the agency SomeOne on a major rebranding of the charity's image to reflect some of the new challenges children face in todays world. It was great project to be asked to work on.

Creative Review. What makes a great image.

 

Creative Review have written an article 'What makes a great image' which focuses on my project work from the protests in Kiev earlier this year. Very flattered and honoured to have my work written about like this.

Had the recent work I did for Persil selected for this quarters Lurzer's Archive magazine.

Kontinent Awards

 

Got second place in the Kontinent Awards 2014 for Documentary single. It's a image from my project on the stand off between anti-government protesters and the President in Kiev, Ukraine.

Golds, Silvers and bronze in Cannes Lions

 

Just got the news that the Adidas JumpStore campaign I did the photography on has won two Golds, two Silvers and a Bronze at the Cannes Lions.

World Cup 2014

 

One of my favourite images from my three year project in one of Rio's favela's has been used as the front page of a World Cup special over in the States. We all know about the Brazilian passion for the game and it shows where it all starts.

Prison Portraits Book

 

The book is finally coming off the line at the printers. It's been some time getting the design and layout absolutely right. Working with Paul you see how much thought goes into it all. Looking forward to seeing the bound version next week.

Persil

 

Shot a short campaign for Persil. The agency wanted to do something a bit different with a story behind it about the trials of growing up.

Selected for Creative Review Annual 2014

 

The Adidas Jump Store campaign has been selected for the Creative review Annual 2014. The judge's thought it was one of the best ad's of July last year!

Adidas. Unlock the Game campaign.

 

Did an extensive campaign for Adidas shooting eight of their Premier League footballers. As always needed to get a large variety of shots is a ridiculously short period of time. Shot over several locations in the UK

Renaissance Photgraphy Prize

 

I've been asked by the Renaissance Photography Prize to be one of their ambassador photographers. I submitted a recent image from a particularly difficult situation and described how I worked to get the shot. I chose one from my visit to the Penal de Ciudad Barrios El Salvador.

Gold of golds in Creative Circle

 

The Adidas commercial I shot last summer has just been awarded the Gold of Golds in the Creative Circle Awards.
It was also awarded four Golds and a Silver including Photography and Art Direction.

Kiev Requiem

 

A week after my first visit to the protester in Independence Square events took a decisive turn. The square erupted into a pitched battle on the Tuesday and finished off with the police shooting live rounds directly at demonstrators on the Thursday. The result was a total of 88 dead. The president then fled, the protesters had won.
I travelled back to Kiev to observe how the people of Kiev reacted to the events and how they paid their respects to those who had given their lives.

In 2014 Ukraine entered a crisis of its future and it's identity. Half the country looks to the West, the other half to the East. This crisis exploded onto the streets of Kiev. Having worked in the Ukraine during it's post Soviet transition I went back to visit the protest camp that had been set up in the center of the city. What I found was a scene closer to Stalingrad than Kiev. The following week the streets where ablaze with violence and anger.

NYPA Awards

 

My work on El Salvador will be exhibited at the Powerhouse Arena in New York for the next month. It's being shown in a group show of the winners of the New York Photo Awards. If your in Brooklyn have a look.

The British Army

 

Got a last minute request to travel to Cyprus with the British Army. First heard about it Wednesday evening whist on a shoot for Shelter. On the plane first thing next morning.
